Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Habibur Rahman on Friday said that one of the suspects in the case of killing ruling Awami League lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar in West Bengal India, was brought to Kolkata in India from Nepal.
'Criminal Investigation Department of Kolkata is interrogating him,' said Habibur at a press briefing at the DMP headquarters in the city.
He disclosed the information to media without disclosing the name of the suspect.
Replying to a quary from a reporter, he said that it was a set rule that the investigation would conduct in the place of occurrence.
'If anyone did any criminal activities in foreign countries , we can also ensure justice bringing him back. Kolkata CID is investigating the case and they have brought an accused from Nepal,' he said.
The DMP commissioner said that both countries were conducting investigation.
'We will decide which countries will conduct the trail, ' he added.
Earlier on Thursday, after returning to Bangladesh from Nepal, the DMP detective branch chief, Harun-or-Rashid, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport said that Nepal would decide whether they would hand over Siam Hossain, a suspect in the ruling Awami League lawmaker for Jhenaidah-4 Anwarul Azim Anar murder case, to India or Bangladesh.
'Siam is also the most wanted in India as the murder took place in the country’s West Bengal….If Nepal hands over Siam to India considering the place of occurrence, it will not make any impact on our investigation,’ said Harun.
Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar went to India for medical treatment on May 11 and remained missing since May 14.
