The seventh International Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course 2024 on rheumatology to cure long-term pain in the human body began at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Saturday.

BSMMU vice-chancellor professor Deen Mohd Noorul Huq inaugurated the course as the chief guest on the university campus, said a press release.

Professor Deen Mohd Noorul Huq said that a multidisciplinary approach could play a vital role in the treatment of rheumatology diseases. Musculoskeletal ultrasound played an important role in identifying problems with the muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves of the body.

‘However, there is no substitute for training to acquire the necessary skills in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound,’ he added.

BSMMU’s rheumatology department and Bangladesh Rheumatology Society organised the event, where along with local and foreign rheumatology experts, the registrar of the university professor ABM Abdul Hannan was present.

BSMMU’s rheumatology department chairman professor Minhaj Rahim Chowdhury presided over the programme. Rheumatology Society secretary general associate professor Shamim Ahmed delivered welcome speech. The event was conducted by the deputy secretary general of the society Md Abu Shaheen.
