Professor Satya Prasad Majumder has been reappointed as vice-chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology for the second terms.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed him as the VC of the university, said a Secondary and Higher Education Directorate notification on Wednesday.
On June 25, 2020, Satya Prasad took charge as the 14th VC of the BUET for the first term. Upon completion of his tenure, he has been reappointed in the post.
He joined the BUET in 1981 at the electrical and electronic engineering department.
In 1991, he obtained his PhD in electric and electronic communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
He was chairman of the electronics and electrical engineering department between June, 2006 and May, 2008 and dean of the department between June, 2010 and June, 2012, said a BUET press release.
He was also director of the student welfare of the university from December, 2016 to May, 2019.
He was also visiting faculty at Multimedia University in Malaysia, Gunma University in Japan and University of Parma in Italy for different period of time.
Satya Prasad鈥檚 research interests include Opto-electronics and Photonics, Optical Fiber Communication Systems, Optical Networks, Solution propagation, Satellite Communications, Mobile and Infrared communications with over 100 publications.
