
Today is the 38th anniversary of the death of Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri, member of the then Bengal Legislative Assembly and Pakistan provincial and national assemblies.
Different organisations, including Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri Smriti Sangsad and Memorial Library and Munshiganj KK Government Institution, took various programmes marking the day, said a press release on Wednesday. The programmes include Qur’an recitation, milad mahfil, giving stipends to the meritorious poor students, distributing cash among the poor.
A commemorative programme will be organised at Munshiganj KK Government Institution on August 3.
In his long political career, Abdul Hakim came in close contact with veteran leader AK Fazlul Haq, popularly known as Sher-e-Bangla.
He involved himself with the newspapers, including ‘Saogat’, ‘Manasi’, ‘Mohammadi’, ‘Prabasi’, ‘Samyabadi’ and ‘Sultan’.
He was the editor of fortnightly ‘Gramer Katha’ published from Munshiganj.
His literary works include ‘Sahitya Katha’, ‘Paner Baraj’ and ‘Prasanga Katha’.
