A workshop on food safety was held at the auditorium of the Old Shilpakala Academy in Bogura on Wednesday, said a press release.

President of social welfare organisation ‘Trishul’, food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder’s daughter engineer Trina Majumder presided over the workshop.


Bogura district food controller Humayun Kabir, Bogura Sadar food controller Harun-ur Rashid, Bogura Sadar food controller Abul Hossain Khan and president of ‘Amra Kajan Shilpigoshthi’ Lion Abdul Mobin Jinnah spoke at the workshop.

Trina Majumder said that food could become unsafe and toxic due to excessive use of pesticides on crops during food production, use of excessive and harmful preservatives for preservation, unsafe and dirty supply systems and above all adulteration.

Even if not cooked properly, beneficial food ingredients are lost, she mentioned.

Arup Ratan Sheel presented a presentation on food safety at the workshop, which was participated by 50 women.
