A landslide claimed yet another life in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Thursday night, raising the overall death toll to four.

The deceased was identified as Mim Akter, 13, a resident of Kalatali Saikat para, Cox鈥檚 Bazar sadar.


Earlier in the day, three more people were killed and 3 others were injured in landslides in different parts of Cox鈥檚 Bazar.

Torrential rain continued in Cox鈥檚 Bazar since Wednesday night. It also submerged the tourist town in water in the early hours of Thursday, leading to inundation of many houses.

The officer in-charge of Cox鈥檚 Bazar sadar Police Station Rokibuzzaman confirmed the latest death.

On June 19th, a total 10 people-eight from the Rohingya community and two from the local community- were killed in a landslide in the Rohingya camp, and on June 20, a couple were killed in Cox鈥檚 Bazar sadar upazila. On July 3rd, another two people were killed in Rohingya Camp No. 11 in Balukhali area of Ukhia upazila in the district.

In the last 24 hours until 6:00am on Friday, Cox鈥檚 Bazar witnessed Bangladesh鈥檚 highest rainfall of 309mm, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
