The Ishwardi upazila administration evicted several hundred illegal structures from the Ishwardi-Kushtia highway near the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project on Saturday.

The operation was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Subir Kumar Das.

Sources reported that hundreds of illegal establishments, including grocery stores, hotels, tea stalls, salons, and markets, had been set up in the Rooppur Mor area, posing a security threat to the RNPP, one of the country鈥檚 most expensive and crucial projects.

Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi police station Rafiqul Islam told 抖阴精品 that the illegal shops caused significant traffic congestion in the area, disrupting law and order.

Shopkeepers were notified two days prior to vacate the premises, and the eviction was carried out using heavy machinery on Saturday, he added.

Subir Kumar Das emphasised that the safety of the nuclear power plant was of utmost importance. Despite multiple notices from the Roads and Highways Department, the traders did not relocate their shops. Consequently, the eviction operation was conducted under orders from higher authorities.
