
An Armed Police Battalion member was injured in firing by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army at the Ukhia 4 Extension Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
The injured, Shahraj, 25, works as constable in Madhurchhara police camp of the APBn in the upazila.
14-Armed Police Battalion commanding officer and additional deputy inspector general of the police Md Iqbal said that nine members of the APBn were engaged in security in F-block of the extension Rohingya camp on Sunday morning.
At about 30 to 35 members entered the camp and started firing at the APBn members. The APBn members also fired back and, the ASRA members escaped the scene, he added.
Shahraj was shot by the ARSA members and found injured his right thigh and right hand fingers, he mentioned.
The injured APBn member has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
The police operation was going on to arrest the ARSA members involved in the incident, the official added.
