At least 110 people were killed and several thousand others were injured in clashes in the past four days of quota protests across the country, starting from July 16.

Of them six were killed on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, 38 on Thursday and 67 were killed on Friday over the protests in Dhaka and other districts.


On Friday, at least 67 people were brought dead or died in different hospitals in the capital, while four others, including a journalist, died in three districts— Rangapur, Narshindi and Sylhet.

In Dhaka Medical College Hospital, at least 35 people died from their injuries till 10:45pm on Friday.

Of those died on Friday at the Dhaka medical college hospital, Omor Faruk, 23, student of Kobi Nazrul, was shot in Lokkhibazar; Jihad, 22, was shot in Shonirakhra; Badhon, 19, was shot in Jatrabari; Akram Khan, 30, a student of Crown University, was shot in Mirpur; an 18-year-old unidentified man was shot in Badda’s Shahajatpur; another 25-year-old man, also unidentified, was shot in Badda’s Shahajatpur.

Among others who died on the day were Nabin Talukder, 35, from being shot at Paltan; an unidentified male adolescent, 14, shot at Narayanganj’s Guighar; Parvez, 23, also shot at Narayanganj’s Guighar, Shovon, 28, shot in Dhaka’s New Market area, Jewel, 30, member of Ansar shot at Motijheel; Mamun Sardar, 34, bKash distributor shot at Mirpur-10; Shanto, 22, madrassah student shot in Kajla in Shonirakhra; Shakil, 22, shot in Bosila; and Sharif, 30.

Also among the deceased of Friday were Dulal Mahmud, 40, a private banker who was shot in Azimpur Colony area on Thursday, died at about 4:00am; Rakib, 30, who was shot in Rampura, died at about 12 noon; Abdul Goni, 40, a plumber, who was shot in Badda and died about 11:00am; Jafor Hawladar, 45, who was shot in Mugda; Pavel, 25, a madrassah student shot in Paltan and died at 3:30pm; Sohan, 25, who was shot in Badda died later; Arif, 22, a hotel worker who was shot in Kajla to die later; Mobarak, 32, a worker of an electricity shop, who was shot in Rayerbagh; Zahid Hassan, 22, studet of Kabi Nazrul University, was shot at Jatrabari; Hridoy, 25, was shot at Rayerbagh; Shah Jamal, 26, was shot in Narayanganj; and Ismail, 17, was shot in Mohammadpur area.

At Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital four people, mostly students, were brought dead, said hospital ward master Sazzad Hossain.

The deceased are Rohan, 20, HSC examinee, shot in Jatrabari Kadamtoli; Rusell, student, shot at Jatrabari Kadamtoli; two others unidentified people who were shot in Lokkhibazar area. Their bodies were brought to the hospital after 2:00pm.

Farazi General Hospital deputy general manager Md Rubel said that at least 10 bodies were brought to the hospital. Most of the bodies carried bullet injuries.

He said that they could not collect detailed information of the victims as their family and friends took them home.

At least 400 patients, who were injured during clashes, were receiving treatment at the hospital, he said, adding that most of them carried bullet wounds.

Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital director Saifur Rahman confirmed that at least 10 dead bodies were bought to the hospital till 6:00pm Friday.

He said that they carried out around 150 surgeries from bullet wounds at the hospital on the weekend.

‘We are overwhelmed with the stream of injured people,’ said Saifur Rahman. 

Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital director Md Mizanur Rahman said that Md Jubair Bepari, 40, was brought dead in the hospital on the day.

At least 40 patients were admitted to the hospital with injuries from clashes, with most them having bullet wounds.

Mughdha Medical College Hospital director SM Hasibul Islam said that at least a man died in the hospital and over 100 injured people, including 60 with bullet wounds, took admission. 

LabAid Hospital staff Md Roman, 25, died at the hospital at about 4:30pm from injuries on the head sustained during a clash between protesters and security forces, said customer care manager Mahfuzur Rahman.

In Savar, protesters clashed with security agencies time and again while they blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway on Friday morning.

Enam Medical College Hospital shift in-charge Md Yusuf said that 24-year old student Al-Amin died in the hospital about 4:30pm from bullet wounds on the belly.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Rangpur reported that at least two people died during clashes between police, protesters and AL activists on Friday.

Yunus Ali, director of Rangpur medical college and hospital, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that two people died at the hospital while 27 other injured were admitted to the hospital.
