A notification on the order of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court over quota reform is likely to be issued today or tomorrow, public administration minister Farhad Hossain said on Monday.
The notification file has been sent to the prime minister for approval. ‘If the PM approves it, the notification can be issued today or tomorrow,’ he said.
The minister said that the demand of the protesting students regarding quota reform has been met. Now, the quota in government jobs will be effective once the notification is issued, added the minister.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday delivered its much-anticipated verdict on quota system in government jobs, keeping 93 per cent of government jobs merit-based, 5 per cent for children of freedom fighters, 1 per cent for ethnic minorities and 1 per cent for people with disability and of third gender.
