
Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik at a press conference on Tuesday said that the fall of dictator Sheikh Hasina brings huge opportunities for the country to reform the state structure into a welfare state.
‘August 5 [2024] victory created immense opportunities for us to reform state structure… so that common people get the ultimate benefit from the revolution,’ said Shujan secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar in his speech at the event held in the capital’s Mohammadpur.
He said that people from all works [and walks] of life achieved this victory under the leadership of students. This victory is called by many people as a second independence of the country.
He expressed concern over the attack on minorities and vandalism of public properties.
‘Anarchy can destroy this huge opportunity,’ he said asking all to be calm and be patient.
Shujan executive member Shahdeen Malik said that they don’t expect any vandalism and anarchy after the victory of mass people.
He said that due to strong position of students everywhere, the country was still in a better position in comparison with others.
He said that students were seen to clean roads, controlling traffic and refunding the looted public goods.
Shujan executive member and Dhaka University professor Robayet Ferdous said that there should be a balance in power and accountability of government.
Shujan’s central committee coordinator Dilip Kumar Sarker urged that the president and army chief should ensure safety and security of all people.
