The Editors’ Council on Tuesday called on the president to stop anarchy and attacks on mass people, and government and private properties.

The council in a statement said that more than 400 people were killed in last three weeks while many were injured in the violent unrest.


It said that Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister on Monday in the face of anti-quota protests and democratic movement by students and mass people as well as at the sacrifices of many. 

Mentioning that five journlaists were killed and more than 100 were injured, the Editors’ Council condemned the incidnents and expressed condolence. 

 ‘A kind of disorder is seen after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 in an evolving political situation,’ said the statement signed by the council president Mahfuz Anam and its general secretary Dewan Hanif Mahmud.

All are in worries about the safety and security of people in general and proterty of the government and non-governemnt entities.

It also said that there were also media reports of attcks on minorities in some places.  

It said that several television stations and media establishments were vandalised. 

The council said that the president should take immediate steps to stop such incidents.
