
A major reshuffle was taken place in security forces, including in the police and Rapid Action Battalion, on Wednesday while the government cancelled the contractual appointment of Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah, the principal secretary of former prime minister, Sheikh Hasina.
PM鈥檚 principal secretary鈥檚 one year contract was cancelled by an order of the president, according to a notification signed by public administration ministry deputy secretary Bhaskar Debnath on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the attorney general, AM Amin Uddin, resigned from his post citing his personal reasons.
The reshuffle, resignations and cancellation of contractual appointments were taken place; two days after prime minister Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 forced resignation and fled to India amid mass uprising triggered by student protests for reforming quotas in government jobs.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Habibur Rahman was attached to the police headquarters as an additional inspector general of police in a major reshuffle of the police on Wednesday.
A gazette notification, signed by Md Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, deputy security of Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that the decision to reshuffle was taken following the order of the president.
Deputy inspector general of police Md Mainul Islam has replaced DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman who has been attached to the police headquarters as additional IGP, the notification said.
Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman has been made RAB director general after shifting him from the Criminal Investigation Department, it said.
RAB director general Barrister Md Harun-Or-Rashid has also been relieved and attached to the police as additional IGP.
On Tuesday, the government on Tuesday appointed Traffic and Driving School commandant Md Moinul Islam as the new inspector general of the police cancelling one-year contractual appointment of Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in a separate circular.
