
Law adviser Asif Nazrul on Wednesday said that all judicial officers were asked to submit statements of movable and immobile wealth of their own and their family members at home and abroad in 10 days.
He said that the interim government took initiatives to reform judiciary.
‘We have asked all judicial officers to submit statements of movable and immobile wealth of their own and their family members at home and abroad in 10 days in consultation with the Supreme Court,’ Asif Nazrul told a press conference at the ministry.
He also said that the Election Commission would also be reformed and electoral laws would be amended to bring back people’s right to vote.
The law adviser said that they already banned plastic products in all lower courts although it would take time to replace them in a bid to improve environment there.
‘We have taken some initiatives to improve environment in lower courts. Plastic products have been banned there. An instruction has been given to the effect,’ said Nazrul, also professor of law at Dhaka University.
A 17-member interim government led by Professor Mohammad Yunus was formed on August 8 after the August 5 fall of Sheikh Hasina amid a mass uprising spearheaded by student protesters.
