
The University Grants Commission has called upon the teachers and researchers of various public universities who have received the UGC fellowships to be cautious about fraud gang.
On Tuesday, the UGC sent letters to public universities warning the fellows about fraud gang, said a press release.聽
A fraudster named Mizanur Rahman in the identity of secretary and deputy secretary of the UGC collected the credit card numbers of a Sher Bangla Agricultural University professor and a UGC fellow, and took away Tk 1.5 lakh recently. In this regard, he filed a general diary with the Sher Bangla Nagar police station on Tuesday, added the press release.
The UGC said that no official named Mizanur Rahman was working in the UGC, requesting all concerned to be alert from fraudsters, mentioned the press release.
The honorarium of the UGC fellows is sent from the UGC through Bangladesh Electronic Funds Transfer Network to specific bank accounts managed by the registrars of their respective universities. Payments are not sent to bKas, Nagad or Upay聽 or credit card numbers.
