
Meherba Plaza Owners Welfare Association has filed a general dairy with the Shahbagh police station alleging that some unidentified people are threatening that they will occupy offices and land of the building.
The association’s general secretary, Muhammad Shofik Ullah, filed the GD with the police on Tuesday.
He said that some unidentified people threatened that they would occupy the offices of the building’s 16th floor after claiming themselves to be activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
He added that they also said that they would build some shops in free spaces on the west side of the building.
‘We fear that the people would come to our office anytime...’ he said.
After the GD was filed, Shahbagh police sub-inspector Abdul Monayem was assigned to investigate the matter.
Monayem said that police would take necessary steps to prevent any illegal move to occupy Meherba Plaza.
Dhaka city south unit BNP office secretary Saidul Islam, however, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that none of its people were involved in copying any place illegally.
He suggested the owners to take police help if any people used BNP’s name in the process of occupying the building.
‘We are also ready to help any people and prevent such illegal activities in the name of the BNP,’ he said.
