The Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Md Mainul Hasan on Saturday said that legal actions were under way against police members involved in the unprofessional activities in the recent student movement.

‘Some police members were also made accused in cases. Legal actions against police members involved in unprofessional acts are underway,’ said the DMP commissioner at a press conference held at its Media Centre.


He alleged that a section of high ambitious and unprofessional police officials brought police against the people.

Mentioning the DMP will be reorganised, Mainul Hasan said that police officials involved in unprofessional activities would be brought under law after identifying them. 

He also said that many police high officials were now hiding.

In a question about the DMP will be run through a special district people, he said that the DMP would not be conducted officials hailed from special districts but it would run with professional ones.

He mentioned that 22 out of 50 police stations were set on fire under the DMP jurisdiction.

‘As many police members were injured and killed, many were still in fear,’ he said, adding that 14 police members under the DMP were killed during and after the movement.

He said that most of the police members joined the force out of 36,000 in the DMP area.
