One more youth who sustained bullet injuries during the student-led mass uprising died while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday night.

Deceased Sohan Shah, 27, a garment worker, was shot in the Rampura area on the afternoon of July 19.


Cantonment police sub-inspector Muhammad Shahjahan said that Sohan’s body was handed over to his family after a postmortem examination at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased’s father, Shah Sekandar Ali, said that Sohan lived in a house on DIT road in Rampura’s Hazipara, and worked at a garment factory at Rampura.

He was shot at during a clash with the police and was first taken to the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital, later was transferred to the CMH on August 23, where he breathed his last at around 7:30pm, said Sekandar.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in a report on August 16 said that 650 people were killed between July 16 and August 11 during the student protests in Bangladesh that ousted the Awami League government on August 5.Ìý
