The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday decided to conduct inquiries against the ousted Awami League government鈥檚 four former lawmakers, including former fisheries and livestock minister Abdur Rahman, over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the ACC at its office, said ACC deputy director (public relations) Aktarul Islam.


The three lawmakers are Solaiman Haque Joarder of Chuadanga-1, Iqbalur Rahim of Dinajpur-4, and Saifuzzaman Shikhor Magura-1 constituencies.

There are allegations of money laundering, irregularities in public projects, and amassing illegal assets against them.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court lawyer Milhanur Rahman Naumi on Wednesday submitted allegations to the ACC against former lawmaker and national cricketer Shakib Al Hasan.

The lawyer applied to the ACC chairman, seeking an inquiry into six corruption allegations against Shakib, who is currently playing Test cricket for the national team in Pakistan.

Shakib was allegedly involved in share market fraud, illegal gambling operations, gold smuggling, embezzling money from curb market traders, corruption in cricket, and concealing asset information in his election affidavit.

Probe was sought for inquiry over the income tax account and corruption allegations against the former lawmaker, businessman, and cricket player Shakib.

There is allegation that Shakib misappropriated Tk聽104 crore in the stock market, was involved in gambling, gold smuggling, embezzlement of money by defrauding curb traders and corruption in cricket.

The lawyer claimed that the allegations are specific and documented, and legal action must be taken against Shakib and all others involved.
