The United International University students distributed food and essential items to flood-affected people of Burichang in Cumilla on Wednesday.

A 23-member team of the UIU distributed these items to around 1500 flood-affected families in the upazila, said a press release.


Dividing into several groups, the UIU Social Services Club members collected funds and relief items for the flood-affected people from the faculty members, administrative staffs, and students.

At present, four teams of the UIU are in the flood-affected areas of Feni, Noakhali and Cumilla. Two teams are engaged in rescue operations, and another two teams are providing relief assistance, added the press release.

The UIU vice-chancellor Professor Md Abul Kashem Mia thanked to all the faculty members, administrative officers and students who stood beside the flood-affected people.

He also said that UIU would stand by the flood-affected people and would continue such activities or cooperation.
