Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, on Thursday said that placing someone in a position, making someone resign, collecting extortion from someone, or lobbying — these were things of the distant past.

‘We want to eliminate these completely,’ he said this after meeting with the chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission Mohammed Mohiuddin Abdullah at ACC headquarters in Dhaka.

He said that across the country, threats and lawsuits were being filed against people by forging their names or signatures, aiming to discredit their movement.

‘There is no opportunity to use the name of our coordinators for any special benefit. The system will operate as it should and the ACC will act according to its laws,’ he said.

Another coordinator Sarjis Alam was also present with him. Sarjis said that they had discussed with the ACC Chairman how the ACC could overcome the negative image that had developed over the past 16 years.

They also expressed hope that the ACC would regain the trust of the people.
