The state guest house Jamuna, the office of chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, has been declared a plastic bottle-free zone.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for environment, forest, and climate change, spearheaded the initiative and urged other members of the advisory council to cease using plastic bottles.
Chief adviser Yunus, endorsed the idea, leading to Jamuna now being recognised as a plastic bottle-free zone.
According to Shafiqul Alam, the chief adviser’s press secretary, it has been about a week since the State Guest House stopped using plastic bottled water.
‘Initially, I thought it wouldn’t be possible, but it’s been about a week since we made the switch,’ he said.
