Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad, student front of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, on Saturday called on the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus to take immediate steps to stop harassment and forced resignations of teachers across the country after August 5 fall of the Sheikh Hasina government amid a student-led mass uprising.

The parishad organised a press conference at the National Press Club where its coordinator Sanjib Sarker said that after resignation of the Sheikh Hasina government in the face of the movement of the Student Movement Against Discrimination platform, teachers in many places across the country, especially Hindu teachers, were repressed by some students.

Moreover, in many cases the teachers were forced to resign from their posts, which were not acceptable, Sanjib said.

Chhatra Oikya Parishad condemned the incidents of听听 repression on the teachers and called on the interim government to find out the attackers and give them exemplary punishment.

The organisation also demanded that the teachers should be returned to their posts in their respective educational institutions.

Central leaders of the organisation Jayeta Biswas, Uttam Roy and others were present at the press conference.
