
Three people, including a man and his son, were killed and 10 others were injured when a bus rammed a truck in the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Rais Uddin, 62, his son Alif Hasan, 27, and Chandra Shekhar, 33, son of Sudhangshu Shekhar.
Abdul Kader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, said that the accident took place at about 5:30am near No 13 pillar of the bridge when the Dhaka-bound ‘Dhaka Express’ Paribahan bus from Sirajganj crashed into a truck from behind, leaving three dead on the spot and ten others injured.
The injured were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital.
The front portion of the bus got twisted during the accident.
Vehicular movement over the bridge remained suspended for a while following the accident.
