
Professor Md Ashraful Hoque joined the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology as vice-chancellor.
He was appointed as the VC of the university for the next four years on September 5, said a press release on Sunday.
Born in Rangpur, Ashraful Hoque completed his bachelor in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1986.
He obtained his master and PhD degrees in 1993 and in 1996, respectively, from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.
He joined as a lecturer at Rajshahi University of Engineering 1986 and continued until 2006 as professor.
In 2007, he joined as a professor in the EEE department at the Islamic University of Technology. He worked as head of the department and dean of the faculty of engineering and technology and acting pro-VC of the IUT.
He is also working as expert member of National University of Bangladesh, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur and Pabna University of Science and Technology.
He has published 100 papers, including 41 international journal papers and 59 conference proceedings.
His research interest is power converters and application of artificial intelligence in motor drives. He is also involved in the research of the applications of power electronics in renewable energy.
