Demanding a ban on three-wheelers operation on the highway, passenger bus services on internal routes suddenly stopped from Tuesday afternoon.

No bus on local routes left Barishal Nathullabad central bus terminal since then.

Bus owners and workers alleged that three-wheelers are running regularly without any valid documents.

As a result, not only the traffic on the highway is increasing but also it is causing disruption and accidents on the routes, they said.

Bus workers said that the former ruling party leaders arranged plying three-wheelers on the highway for their own benefit.

After their fall, that system of the previous government is still going on.

The workers said that if the three-wheeler movement is not stopped, buses will not run on internal routes.

During the strike, the passengers of the local routes fell in trouble as the bus service were stopped without any announcement.

Akbar Hossain, a passenger going to Agailjhara upazila, said that traveling by bus on the highway is safer than going by three-wheeler, but he could not find any bus to reach his destination.

However, efforts are being made to resolve the matter quickly, said Mustafa Kamal, general secretary of the District Bus Workers Union.
