Three people, who were taking preparation for a relative鈥檚 burial, died and another injured when a truck ran over them on Kalna-Narail-Benapole highway at Maitkumra in Lohagara upazila of Natore district early Wednesday, said police.
The deceased were identified as Shamim sheikh, son of Hemayet Sheikh, Zia Biswas, son of Ramjan Biswas and Russel Molla, son of Jamal Molla of Maitkumra village in Narail municipality.
The accident occurred at the dead of night when the truck crushed them while they were taking a cot from a local mosque for the burial of Russel鈥檚 grandmother. The three were killed on the spot, said officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun.
The injured was taken to Sadar Hospital.
