The University of Dhaka has invited applications for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program for the 2024-2025 academic year for the July-December session.
The application form can be downloaded from the university website , said a press release on Thursday.
Interested candidates must apply by selecting a supervisor from the teachers of the relevant department or institute and submit their application to the office of the chairman of the department or director of the Institute.
Candidates have to deposit Tk 1,000 (non-refundable) to Janata Bank TSC branch as fee for the admission form.
To be admitted to the program, candidates must have either an MPhil or a four-year Bachelor's degree from a public university and a one-year Master's degree, or a three-year Bachelor's degree and a one-year Master's degree, with at least a second divisions/class or 50 percent marks in all exams.
According to CGPA rules, candidates must have a CGPA of 3.5 out of 5 or 3 out of 4 in all examinations from Secondary or equivalent up to Graduation or Post-Graduation.
Besides, a synopsis of the research should be submitted while applying for the programme.
Candidates must have at least two research papers published in recognized journals, with the exception that for the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Business Studies, at least one of the research publications should be single-authored.
For candidates holding a three-year Bachelor鈥檚 Honors degree and a one-year Master鈥檚 degree, they must have at least two years of teaching experience at the graduate level in a recognized educational institution, or two years of research-related work experience in a recognized research institution, or two years of work experience in government, private, autonomous, or semi-autonomous institutions.
Graduates from private universities must first be admitted to the MPhil program in DU before applying for the PhD program.
