
The police have recovered the body of an office assistant of the Notre Dame College, at her rented house in Rishikesh Das Lane area of Dholaikhal in Old Dhaka.
The deceased, Lipika Gomes, 45, hailed from Dohar in Dhaka district. She was living in the flat alone for the past eight years.
Lipika had a mark of stabbing in the left side of her head, the police said, adding that they primarily suspected that she was murdered.
Sutrapur police station officer-in-charge Md Saiful Islam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the victim’s cousin Prince Gomes filed a case regarding the incident on Thursday.
He said that the body was recovered on Wednesday.
‘A call was made to the National Emergency Service hotline 999 on Wednesday. The police went to the house after receiving the call,’ the OC Saiful said, adding that Lipika's body was found on the bed in a room of the flat.
It was primarily believed to be a murder, he mentioned, adding that the cause of the death would be confirmed after the investigation.
‘We are suspecting that she was murdered on Tuesday night by a known person,’ he added.
Victim’s cousin Prince Gomes said that Lipika’s body was kept at a city hospital.
He said that her mother, who was sick, lived in their village at Dohar and her brother lived abroad.
‘We have not yet informed her mother about the death as her physical condition is not so well,’ he added.
On Wednesday, two of her colleagues found her dead in her flat after they went to her flat as she was absent in office and they could not reach her over phone, Prince added.
