Leaders of National Garment Workers Federation on Sunday at a press conference in Dhaka called on the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus to take stern actions to stop anarchies in the garment sector.
Some garment factory owners are keeping their factories closed in Ashulia and Gazipur in the name of labour movements, they said.
The labour rights bodies were not involved in those movements, they said, adding that some outsiders were involved to create anarchies in the factories.
The NGWF organised the press conference at the National Press Club where its president Amirul Haque Amin said that more than 100 workers and working class people were killed in police firing during the last movement of students and people during July and August.
Of them, eight members of the NGWF were murdered and more than 100 were wounded, Amirul Haque said.
He demanded adequate compensations for the affected family members and treatments of the wounded workers.
Amirul also demanded withdrawal of cases filed against the garment workers during the movement and stopping including some workers in the black list of some factories.
Country director of Solidarity Centre Bangladesh, AKM Nasim, general secretary of IndustriALL Bangladesh Shahidullah Badal, labour leader Abul Hossain and others were present at the press conference.
