
The police arrested former cultural affairs minister and acclaimed actor Asaduzzam脿n Noor and former state minister for civil aviation and tourism Md Mahbub Ali at separate places in Dhaka.
Noor and Mahbub, both leaders of Awami League, were arrested in separate cases for murders in Dhaka during the recent student-led mass uprising that ousted the AL from power on August 5.
Since the fall of AL when the party president Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled to India, leaders of the party went in hiding and were facing criminal cases and arrests for attacking or killing protesters during the student-led mass uprising.
According to a press release issued by the media cell of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, members of detective branch of DMP arrested Asaduzzaman Noor at the capital鈥檚 Bayley road at about 11:00 pm on Sunday.
Police said that Noor was wanted in a case filed with the Mirpur Model Police Station.
The DMP, in a press release said that聽 Md Mahbub Ali was arrested at Segunbagicha area in the capital.
The release said that Mahbub was arrested in a murder case filed with Jatrabari police station in Dhaka.
