Former state minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman died on Sunday while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Dhaka Specialized Hospital. 

He was76.


Mahbubur breathed his last at around 2:00pm.  

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and grandchildren.

He was the Member of Parliament of Patuakhali-4 Constituency (Kalapara-Rangabali) and was the president of Kalapara Upazila Awami League.   

According to his family sources, he will be buried in the family graveyard.

His first namaz-e-janaza would be held at Kalapara Central Jame Masjid at 9:00am on Monday and the second janaza would be held at his home village Baliatli after Zuhr prayers.

He was elected MP from this seat in 2001, 2008 and 2014.  

He served as the state minister during 2009–2014.

Since the fall of the AL government on August 5, several cases were filed against him under the non-bailable section of the Penal Code, including murder, explosives act by the Bangladeshi Nationalist Party and its affiliates.

Even on the day of his death, a leader of the Upazila Juba Dal filed a case against him on the charge of attempted murder.  Â
