Renowned organisation of poets in Bangladesh Jatiya Kabita Parishad on Sunday demanded change to the spelling rule set by Bangla Academy.

They also placed a memorandum with the 14-point demand to the newly appointed director general of the academy, the official regulatory body of the Bengali language, Mohammad Azam.


Convener of the Jatiya Kabita Parishad poets Mohon Raihan, Shahin Reza, Rezauddin Stalin, Manab Surat, among others, were present during the submission of the memorandum.

The memorandum comprises demands, including legal action against the corrupt officials of the academy, withdrawal of awards and grants distributed on political consideration, steps for organising a neutral and fair Ekushey Book Fair and others.
