
The government on Tuesday formed a one-member committee to investigate the allegation of Tk聽3 crore bribery through a cheque over posting of a deputy secretary as the deputy commissioner.
The Ministry of the Public Administration took the move against a newspaper report that a cheque of Tk聽3 crore, recovered from the room of the joint secretary (appointment, posting and deputation), was allegedly given by a businessman over the posting of a DC as the interim government in a major reshuffle in the field administration recently appointed new DCs in most districts.
Additional secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Zahedy has been asked to submit report with specific opinion after verifying the authenticity of the newspaper report within next three days, according to a gazette notification issued on the day.
MoPA senior assistant secretary KM Yeasir Arafat will provide support to the committee as member secretary, said the notification signed by deputy secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafiq.
