The authorities of Rajshahi University on Thursday relieved international relations department professor Sayed Md Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury of all kinds of academic and administrative activities following student protests.
Acting registrar professor Sheikh Saad Ahmed confirmed the matter.
He said that they had also formed a four-member committee headed by Arabic department professor Iftekhar Alam Masud to investigate the allegations brought against Abdullah Al Mamun by students.
On Wednesday, IER students started demonstrations in front of the department by locking the department office and classrooms, demanding immediate removal of Abdullah Al Mamun.
During the demonstrations, agitating students accused Abdullah Al Mamun of making offensive remarks about dresses of female students, misappropriating money of the development fund, arbitrariness, result disasters, and harassing students.
They also accused Abdulla Al Mamun of tempting students to work against the Student Movement Against Discrimination with money.
The students later submitted an application to the university vice-chancellor professor Saleh Hasan Naqib demanding immediate removal of Abdullah Al Mamun.
Abdullah Al Mamun could not be reached for his comment over the phone despite repeated attempts.
