
Members of the Border Guard of Bangladesh, in separate drives, detained seven Bangladeshi citizens, including a woman, early Friday as they were attempting to enter India illegally through the border areas of Satkhira and Dinajpur.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that BGB members detained five Bangladeshis, including a woman, while allegedly attempting to enter India illegally through Hijoldi and Padmashakhra borders in Satkhira.
The detained are Md Jasim Uddin, 38, Md Billal Hossain, Md Shamsuzzaman, 39, Mst Moushumi, 34, and Md Mamun, 33, a BGB press release said.
Acting on tip-off, a team of BGB鈥檚 Padmashakhra border outpost, led by Subedar Amir Hossain, stopped three people, who were heading towards border on two motorcycles at 3:00am. Of them, local agents Jasim Uddin and Billal Hossain were trying to take Md Shamsuzzaman to India illegally, the release said.
A case was filed in this regard and the three detained were handed over to Satkhira Sadar police station.
Meanwhile, a team of BGB鈥檚 Hijoldi border outpost detained Mst Moushumi and Md Mamun at 4:20am while they were attempting to enter India through Sultanpur Math area along the border.
BGB filed a case against the duo and handed them over to Satkhira Kolaroa police station.
BGB members, in another drive, detained two Bangladeshi citizens while allegedly trying to trespass into India through the border in Biral upazila of Dinajpur, reported United News of Bangladesh.
The detained are Magnet Roy, 25, son of Rama Roy of Dinajpur鈥檚 Bochaganj and Likhan Roy, 19, son of Profulla Roy of Palashbaria area under Nilphamari Sadar upazila.
Ahsan-ul-Islam, commandant of the BGB-42 in Dinajpur, said that they detained the duo from Nonagram area under Bhandara union of Biral upazila along the border with India after being tipped-off that some Bangladeshis were intruding into India.
The detained were handed over to the concerned police station to take legal action in this regard, he added.
