
The Detective Branch chief of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Rezaul Karim Mallik said that no ‘Aynaghar’ officially known as secret detention centres or eatery would exist in the DB office.
‘There will be no Aynaghr in the DB office. We are making DB as a holy place ending its disgraced chapter, and people will get justice,’ said Rezaul Karim, adding that it would no longer be a place to hangout for actors, actresses and other celebrities.
‘There will be no “Bhater Hotel” in the office,’ mentioned Rezaul, also a DMP additional commissioner, while addressing reporters at a ‘Meet the Press’ held at the DMP media centre in the capital.
He also said that no arrested would face torture in the DB office. ‘We will listen to victims and helpless people. We will see how to provide them legal support.’
Mentioning that they will not allow any unjust, injustice and corruption in the office, he said that they would like to establish the DB office a place of trust.
‘I am too not above the law. I am ensuring you [people] that if any DB members involved in unlawful and unprofessional act, they will not be spared,’ said Reazaul.
Speaking about the forthcoming Durga Puja celebration, he said, ‘The DB officials in plainclothes are now patrolling to ensure the security of temples and puja mandaps.’
The DB joint commissioner for North Robiul Islam Bhuiyan, among others, was present at the press briefing.
