The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed a case against 24 persons, including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy鈥檚 former director general Mohammad Liaquat Ali Lucky and director (administration) Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury on charges of appointing 23 candidates illegally.

The ACC deputy director Sumitra Sen filed the case with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said the ACC director general Md Akhtar Hossain at its headquarters in Dhaka.


He said that the accused, including Liaquat Ali Lucky, appointed 23 candidates at the Shilpakala Academy through tempering marks sheet of written exams.

The other accused are former five cultural officers Al Mamun, Md Hamidur Rahman, Sudipta Chakraborty, Hasan Mahmud, Begum Runa Laila Mahmud, and budget and planning assistant director Begum Samira Ahmed, stage manager Begum Rahima Khatun, guide lecturer Mahabubur Rahman, music and instruments instructor Begum Meen Ara Parveen, dance instructor Begum Priyanka Saha, instrumentalists Narayan Deb Liton and Mohammad Ziaul Abedin, three dance artistes Begum Laila Yasmin, Begum Miftahl Binte Masuk and Begum Sumaitah Tabassum, five singers Begum Roksana Akhter Rupsa, Abdullahel Rafi Talukder, Md Sohanur Rahman, Begum Abida Rahman Setu, Begum Mohana and cameraman Rubel Mia.

According to the case statement, the accused had illegally appointed 23 candidates at the BSA against 10 positions by increasing the marks in the written exams, though they failed in the exams.

The candidates joined the posts and withdrew Tk 8.28 crore from the government fund as salary and allowances, said the case statement.
