Foreign ministry鈥檚 secretary for maritime affairs unit retired rear admiral Md Khurshed Alam, whose contractual appointment was extended on occasions, has resigned.

In another development on Sunday, appointment of deputy high commissioner in Kuala Lumpur Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastagir as ambassador to Poland has been cancelled.


Allegations have it that Khastagir requested Malaysian authorities to take actions against the Bangladeshi students, who held demonstrations there expressing solidarity with student-led mass uprising.

Public diplomacy wing director general Toufique Hasan confirmed the cancellation of the appointment of Khorshed Alam Khastagir as ambassador to Poland.

He also said that secretary for maritime affairs unit rear Khurshed Alam resigned on the day.聽

The government on September 25 announced that it decided to appoint Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastagir, then serving as the minister (political) and deputy high commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, as the next ambassador to Poland.聽

The student-led mass uprising ousted the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
