
The Ishwardi police recovered the mutilated body of a man from a litchi orchard at Ishwardi in Pabna on Thursday.
The body was recovered at about 9:00am from the litchi garden in Baraichara village under Salimpur union of the upazila.
The deceased is Nayan Hossain, 28, son of wood trader Nazrul Islam of Baraichara village under Salimpur union of the upazila and Nayan was an electrical mechanic by profession.
Relatives of the deceased said that he had a TV/Fan repair shop at Jayanagar-Shimultala Bazar.
He used to close his shop at about 10:00pm and then returned home. they said, adding that as he did not return home till midnight on Wednesday and the mobile phone used by Nayan was found switched off, his family started searching for him in and around Shimultala Bazar.
Later in the morning, the family members went to the spot and identified the body of Nayan. On information, the police recovered the body from the spot.
Biplab Kumar Goswami, additional superintendent of police for Ishwardi Circle, said that deceased Nayan had injury marks on his face and neck with sharp weapons.
Police initially believed that he had been stabbed and strangled to death, the official said, adding that the body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The process of filing a case in this regard is underway, the official said.
