The police recovered the body of Salah Uddin Mahmud, a former additional secretary to the Ministry of Industries, from Balishira Resort at Srimangal in Moulvibazar on Thursday.
According to local people and police, Salah Uddin Mahmud came to Moulvibazar on an official visit on Wednesday.
The deceased was working as deputy managing director of Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation under the Ministry of Industry.
On Wednesday, he participated in a programme of the SME Foundation in Moulvibazar.
After completing the event in Moulvibazar, he went to sleep at Balishira Resort in Srimangal at about 10:00pm.
When a member of the resort staff went to his room at about 8:30am, he found it locked from inside.
Later, the police entered the room breaking open the window and recovered the body.
He was scheduled to participate in several other programmes of the SME Foundation at Srimangal on Thursday.
Officer-in-charge of Srimangal police station Aminul Islam said, 鈥榃e got the information in the morning and went to the resort and recovered the body. He is believed to have died sometime between 10:00pm and 8:30am.鈥�
The body will be handed over to the family members, the OC added.
