The Border Guard Bangladesh on Thursday detained an Indian national allegedly involved in human trafficking as he entered Bangladesh illegally through the Uchna border under Panchbibi upazila in Jaipurhat.

The detained is Mintu Mondal, 40, who was involved in human trafficking from Bangladesh to India for a long time, said a 20 BGB Battalion press release issued on Friday. 


The BGB recovered a button mobile phone and a SIM card from the detained, the press release said, adding that a team Hatkhola border outpost detained him from Uchna area at about 5:00pm as he entered 50 yards inside Bangladesh territory.

The 20 BGB Battalion in Jaipurhat commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nahid Newaz, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the BGB filed a case against the Indian national for illegal trespassing with the Panchbibi police station on Friday.

‘We have handed over him to police today,’ he added.

Panchbibi police station officer-in-charge Md Kawser Ali said that they produced Mintu before the court and the court sent him to jail.
