Two labours died after inhaling toxic gas allegedly inside a septic tank at an under-construction house in Shaympur Maitka area of Savar in Dhaka district Friday morning.
The deceased are Anisul Haque, 40, of Rangpur and Sadikul Islam, 30, an inhabitant in Bhola.
Fire service sources said that Anisul and Sadikul were working at the under-construction building, owned by Lal Mia at Shaympur Maitka. While they were working, Anisul first went inside the tank and fell ill, inhaling toxic gas. Getting no response from him, Sadikul also went into the tank and also fell ill.
On receiving information, firefighters rushed to the spot and recovered them in an unconscious state.
They were taken to Savar upazila health complex, where on duty doctor declared them dead, said Farhaduzzaman, station officer of Savar annery fire service.
