
At least six people, including two women, were killed in a head-on collision between a cement-laden truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Shibpur in Narsingdi on Saturday.
Two units of firefighters recovered the bodies, said a Fire Service and Civil Defence press release, adding that the victims were the CNG passengers and driver.
The deceased are Abubakar Siddique, 40, Marufa Begum, 23, Mustafa Mia, 48, his wife Kulsum Begum, 42, driver Shahin Mia, 35 and Shanto Chandra Ghosh, 27.
A Manohardi-bound cement-laden truck was arrived from Itakhola and, at one point it collided head on with the CNG-driven auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction, according to police and witnesses.
Shibpur police station officer-in-charge Afzal Hossain said that they had sent bodies to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The police station’s inspector investigation Md Dulal Uddin told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·Â that they had handed over four bodies to families and process of handing over rest of the two was underway.
‘We have seized the truck. The driver and helper of the truck, however, managed fled from the spot,’ said Dulal, adding that the process of filing a case was underway.
