Rabindra University鈥檚 newly appointed pro-vice-chancellor Professor Suman Kanti Barua joined his office at the university administration building on Tuesday.

Then he called on and exchanged greetings with Rabindra University's vice-chancellor Professor SM Hasan Talukdar, said a press release.


Later, the pro-vice-chancellor laid a wreath at the Shaheed Minar paying respect to the memory of all the martyrs of the great liberation war of 1971 and the martyrs who were killed in the July-August uprising of 2024.

The treasurer of the university professor Feroze Ahmad, registrar (additional charge), Department chairmen, proctorial body members, teachers, students, officers and employees were present.

Dhaka University Pali and Buddhist Studies Department Professor Suman Kanti graduated from Dhaka University in Buddhist Studies in 1988, obtained Masters in 1989 and PhD in 2005.

He has served as chairman of the department and director of the Center for Buddhist Heritage and Culture. Professor Suman Kanti Barua received Dean's Award as 'Best Academic Article Writer' at Dhaka University in 2000.
