The inter-district bus communications between Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj was resumed on Wednesday, two days after the transport workers had enforced an indefinite strike on Monday morning over a trivial matter.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian held a meeting with the two districts鈥� transport leaders and workers in his office and solved the problem. The bus communications resumed at 4:00pm, said Rafiqul Islam, acting general secretary of Rajshahi Motor Workers Union.
Earlier, bus communications on the route was suspended without any prior notice for an unidentified period after transport workers of the two districts had beaten each other over a trivial matter.
People traveling on this route continued to suffer immensely on Tuesday due to the strike as about 75 short and long-route buses ply on the route every day.
