Dhaka University linguistics department held the orientation programme for the first year students of the 2023-24 academic sessions at the Teacher-Student Centre auditorium of the university on Wednesday.
Besides, the department also held the graduation ceremony of master鈥檚 students, said a DU press release.
Presided over by chairperson of the department Monira Begam, DU pro-vice-chancellor (education) Professor Mamun Ahmed was present as chief guest at the programme.
Dean of faculty of arts Professor Mohammad Siddikur Rahman Khan and director of International Mother Language Institute Professor Muhammad Asaduzzaman spoke as special guests at the programme.
Dhaka University had made a sole contribution to the establishment of independent Bangladesh, and has been making contribution to the country鈥檚 socio-economic development, said Mamun Ahmed.
Mentioning that the country has many expectations from the students of the DU, he said that to meet these expectations, they should develop as skilled citizens.
