The interim government on Thursday appointed five new members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.

The appointed members are Md Jalal Uddin, ASM Golam Hafiz, Chowdhury Sayma Ferdous, Md Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan and M Sohel Rahman, according to separate gazettes issued by the public administration ministry.

The notifications said that the members would hold office as a member of the BPSC until the completion of five years from the date of their assumption of office, or until they reach their age of 65, whichever occurs earlier.

On October 8, PSC鈥檚 past chairman Md Sohorab Hossain and 12 members resigned from their respective posts, though the PSC did not receive resignation letters from two other members Helaluddin and Md Shafiqul Islam.

The next day, Professor Mobashher Momen was appointed as PSC鈥檚 new chairman, and Nurul Kadir, Md Aminul Islam, Md Nazmul Amin and Md Sujayet Ullah as new members.

On October 23, Helaluddin was arrested by Chattogram police.
