Unidentified miscreants murdered an auto-rickshaw driver before stealing his vehicle at Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin Bepari, 35, a resident of Shekhnagar union of Sirajdikhan upazila.
The police recovered the body from Nimtala area near the footbridge on the Dhaka-Mawa highway at about 11:00am on Saturday.
Confirming the matter, Sirajdikhan police station officer-in-charge Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said that there were multiple wounds on the body.
Investigation was going on to identify those involved in the incident, added the police official.
According to victim鈥檚 family, the driver left the house with his auto-rickshaw on Friday afternoon. The family started searching for him as he did not return home at night.
鈥楲ater, his body was recovered on Saturday morning. No trace of the auto-rickshaw was found at that time,鈥� said OC Hafizur.
The body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy, added the OC.
