A student of Faridpur Textile Institute was stabbed to death in a conflict between seniors and juniors in the Shantibagh area of ​​Shahjahanpur in the capital early Tuesday.

The deceased is Ismail Hossain Rahat, 18, a resident of Shantibagh area.


He completed his schooling from Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College in the capital and later enrolled at Faridpur Textile Institute.

Confirming the matter, Shahjahanpur police station officer-in-charge Md Khairul Islam said that victim’s father Md Belayet Hossain filed a case and four youths were arrested in connection with the murder.

The arrested are Tonmoy, Hasan and Hossain, two siblings, and Siam.

Unidentified people allegedly stabbed Ismail over a previous enmity on Monday afternoon, the police said.

Ismail’s uncle Mohammad Moin Uddin said that Ismail was beaten up and stabbed as he had enmity with attackers over considering them as seniors.

OC Khairul said, ‘He was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later his family took him home after he was discharged.’

As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Aurora Specialised Hospital at Kakrail, where he succumbed to his wounds at about 2:30am on Tuesday, he said.

Ismail had deep injury marks on his body, OC Khairul said, adding that the body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
